Ghana Gold Board Enforces New Licensing Regime for Gold Trading

                                                      Post views: 453 Story by Paul Mensah Nsor  The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced the enforcement of its new licensing regime for gold trading in Ghana, effective immediately.  According to CEO Sammy Gyamfi, the regime aims to streamline and structure gold trading to optimize national benefits from the entire value chain of gold resources.¹  The Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), passed by Parliament on March 29, 2025, and assented to by the President on April 2, 2025, revokes all previous licenses issued by the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) and the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. GOVERNMENT RECLAIMS ASENAYO FOREST RESERVE FROM ILLEGAL MINERS

In ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal mining activities and protect Ghana’s forest reserves and water bodies, the government has achieved another significant milestone with the successful reclamation of the Asenayo Forest Reserve.  This feat has once again been achieved through coordinated operations led by the Forestry Commission and Security agencies, under the auspices of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. This marks the eighth out of nine high-priority "red-zoned" reserves restored from armed illegal miners, reinforcing the state’s zero-tolerance stance on galamsey.
